Andrographolide is a labdane diterpenoid that is produced by the Andrographis paniculata plant, which has a broad range of therapeutic applications including anti-inflammatory and anti-platelet aggregation activities and potential antineoplastic properties. It is one of the most commonly used medicinal plants in the traditional systems of Unani and Ayurvedic medicines.
Function:
1. It exhibits antioxidant and hepatoprotective activity against liver damage.
2. It accelerates intestinal digestion and absorption of carbohydrates by activating the brush border membrane bound hydrolyses of the small intestine.
3. It induces significant stimulation of the antibody production and delayed hypersensitivity responses
